I was born in Montreal, Quebec and we moved to the Tri-cities when I was three. I grew up in the Tri-cities and graduated from Terry Fox Senior Secondary in 1994. I am married to the love of my life, Darlene and we have a young son named Nolan who makes us laugh at least once every day. Darlene, Nolan, and I attend New Westminster Christian Reformed Church in Burnaby where I am involved in the music ministry as a vocalist for one of our worship teams and recently completed a six-year commitment as a youth leader. We live in beautiful Surrey, BC.
I graduated from SFU in 2001 with a BA, majoring in English and minoring in Humanities. I then went on to complete my BEd degree at UBC which I completed in 2002. I then took a bit of a hiatus from teaching and spent sixteen years in the transportation field as an owner/operator with a freight company. I never lost my love of teaching and took every opportunity during this time of transition to use my skills and passion for education both as a writer/director for an independent film production company called Blooming Productions which produced a critically acclaimed film entitled Behind the Eight Ball and as a volunteer leader for our church youth group, Student Dynamics. As a youth leader, I was called upon to mentor a group of teenage boys throughout their high school career. I was also called to put on three dinner theater productions to raise money for our church’s work projects in Honduras. For the past many months, I have undertaken a self-imposed refresher course in the current state of education and the new curriculum which has included volunteer work in the classroom and TOC work at Delta Christian, Surrey Christian, and John Knox as well as self-study and reflection. I look forward to using my skills as an educator and my passion and experience in the arts at Delta Christian in the coming years.
I believe that teaching the power of Jesus Christ, the purifying and edifying nature of the Holy Spirit and the authority of the Holy Scripture is an integral part of a fulfilling Christian education and it is my goal to present these realities to all my students as I facilitate a love of life-long learning.
