Tina Chen, Grade 1 Teacher
Personal Profile
I was born in Taiwan, and my family moved to Vancouver when I was nine years old. My family and I live in Richmond now, and my husband and I are both on staff at Thrive Church in Richmond. In my spare time, I love to do arts and crafts with my kids and we are not afraid to get messy!
Professional Profile
I’ve attained my Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts with majors in Psychology and Asian Language and Culture from University of British Columbia. I’ve also earned a Diploma in Children’s Ministry recently. My passion is in languages, and I have been teaching English and Mandarin to students of different ages for many years.
Philosophical Profile
My philosophy in education is rooted in Deuteronomy 6:7, and it is to “repeat [God’s Words] again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.”; the most important thing for me as a Christian educator is to instill God’s truth in children’s hearts in everything we do, so that they can develop Godly characters and have personal relationships with God.
