K-3 Mask Mandate (posted in Ripples Oct. 8, 2021)

Thank you for your cooperation as we’ve implemented the guidance for the K-3 mask mandate this week. We fully understand there are varying perspectives on this issue and thank you to those who have respectfully shared your position. As an independent school, we are still bound to the direction of the Ministries of Health and Education when it comes to health and safety mandates. To soften the impact, our teachers are working with students to coach them on how and when to safely and responsibly take a break as needed. Protecting student mental wellbeing is important as well. We understand that there are different tolerance levels in children towards masks and students will need breaks. Students can take breaks as needed. We are taking a soft-touch approach in this area. As a starting point, students do receive a regular break from mask-wearing when outdoors during recess and lunch, where it is optional. We will continue to adjust our approach to meet the needs of students.

Contact Tracing in Schools (posted in Ripples Oct. 29, 2021)

We are thankful that we have had no COVID cases in the past few weeks. As a refresher, the BC CDC website provides a helpful explanation of how contact tracing works for students or staff. To view the image more clearly, please click on the image.
